ELECTRIC BOOST CONTROL

ELECTRIC BOOST CONTROL

Expectations placed on the automotive industry continue to rise. Increasing economy, cleanliness and safety combined with more performance and comfort are the demands made of modern vehicles. Combining such incongruous properties can only be achieved with the utmost effort.

Components that interact optimally, such as electronics and technology, allow the designers to keep achieving new targets. One remarkable aspect is the development of diesel engines, which have doubled their average output in recent years while maintaining a similar level of consumption.

ELECTRONICS IN THE TURBOCHARGER

Ever-increasing global pollutant emissions and rising fuel prices continue to drive the pace of development for motor vehicle engines. The latest development in turbo technology is an electronically activated boost control. Impulses provided by the control device cause a small electric motor on the turbocharger to regulate the boost pressure smoothly and without any delay. In the past this function was performed by aneroid capsules controlled by vacuum or pressure.

POSSIBLE FAULTS DUE TO DEFECTIVE BOOST CONTROL

  • Control device switches to emergency operating mode during acceleration
  • Engine output too low
  • Boost pressure too high/low

INSPECTION & REPAIR

We will also be pleased to inspect the function and wear of your electric actuators on our computer-controlled test rigs. Should a fault become apparent during this inspection, there is nothing to stand in the way of a repair.
